The Mother – Spoken Word
Conversations with a ̶Se̶r̶i̶a̶l̶ ̶K̶i̶l̶l̶e̶r̶ teenager
Pick it up, put it away, hang it up. Do it properly, don’t leave it on the floor, put in on the radiator. Put it in the dishwasher, Make sure you turn it on, make sure you turn it off. Keep it down, do it the first time I ask. Don’t speak to me like that, don’t speak to your sister like that. Don’t roll your eyes, Don’t kiss your teeth at me, grow up, do your homework first. Don’t leave the vegetables, Do it the night before, don’t leave it to the last minute, where did you see it last? Where are your school shoes? Why haven’t you cleaned them, Why didn’t you tell me, Why didn’t you tell me last night? Why didn’t you….oh it doesn’t matter now I’ll bloody do it.
I told you that already, that’s what I said, why have I got to go, why didn’t you tell me. Why have I got to do that, It’s not that big a deal, it’s not that deep. Whatever, It doesn’t matter, no one cares mum, you’re the only that cares.. I said I’ll do it, I’ll do it in a minute, I’ll do it later, I’ll do it when I get back, I’ll do it tomorrow. Why can’t you do it? I’m doing it alright. I forgot. I am up; I am getting dressed. Where’s my tie, Can I have some money? Where is your bag? Where is your phone? What do you think I’m doing? What does it look like I’m doing? Alright. Ok. Whatever
