“Mummy, why aren’t you like the other mums at school?” 

Well that was the 6 million dollar question.

Her daughter wasn’ the only one to have possed it of course,  she asked herself the same question every single bloody morning. She still didn’t have an answer. 

This wasn’t the life she always planned, the life she’d dreamed of.  Unmarried, skint, and bringing up her two kids in a council flat in Peckham. Challenging?, Demanding? Ha that didn’t even come close.  Sometimes just sharing the bedroom with her partner was tough let alone sharing it with her daughter and a decrypted, arthritic cat as well. Then there was work when she could get it. Still at least being a temp meant she couldn’t get sacked.
